Meet Devon Tobin

Principal

Duet founder and principal Devon Tobin is an award-winning interior designer whose innate talents and distinctive eye for design have made her a highly sought-after design professional for more than 18 years. (Her warm spirit and hilarious sense of humor are a bonus.) A third-generation Coloradan, Devon has grown up alongside Denver, as it’s become a vibrant cultural city with a keener-than-ever taste for high style, and Devon and her team at Duet have helped expand Denverites’ palates with handsome luxury homes, vibrant commercial spaces, and distinctive multifamily residences.

Devon began dabbling in interior design as a child — fixing up her spaces so they felt good. She earned a bachelor of fine arts in painting from CU Boulder (Go Buffs!) and a bachelor of arts in interior design from the Art Institutes. She’ll tell you that creating holistic, gorgeous interiors is art mixed with a bit of science, a dose of alchemy, a whole lot of listening to clients, a good sprinkling of laughter, and some creative problem-solving. It’s a recipe for success: Devon’s work has been featured in Luxe, Design et al, 5280 Home, Colorado Homes & Lifestyles, and other notable publications.

Devon is a LEED Green Associate and an NCIDQ-licensed interior designer. She’s also a mom to two boys and wife to one amazing husband, and together they love to spend time skiing, hiking, and camping.

Sydney McManness

Sydney has known since she was a child that she wanted to be an interior designer. She began her career at a design/build firm and then happily landed at Duet Design Group in 2019. (She went to an event at which principal Devon Tobin was speaking and asked for an interview!) Sydney loves every aspect of her work because Duet’s unique process enables the team to create a collaborative environment that makes the most of each member’s best skills. In her free time, Sydney loves to organize. (Yes, really.)

Tracey Ranta

A lifelong creative, Tracey’s love of studio art began at boarding school on the East Coast and led to a BFA in graphic design from the University of Denver. For more than 20 years, she’s worked in advertising, where her favorite projects involved developing residential design brands, so her job at Duet is a dream come true. Here, Tracey indulges her obsession with interior design, art, and architecture to promote a luxury brand that’s fueled by a team of passionate, organized, authentic women. Tracey loves a good live-music show, and she finds inspiration in nature and time with her daughter and two Sussex Spaniels.

Abbie Jahn

With an undergraduate degree in chemistry and an MBA, Abbie worked for 25 years in the pharmaceutical and nutrition industry — which required her to move often. (She has lived in France, Thailand, China, Russia, and Japan!) She became a pro at transforming a new house into her own home and developed a love of interior design, which inspired her to go back to school, earn an interior design degree, and switch careers. Today, Abbie loves combining her business experience with her passion for beautiful interiors at Duet Design Group.

Donna Wintzen

Donna has 20 years’ experience in architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and interior design, in both residential and commercial environments. While she spent a nine-year stint in civil and electrical engineering, her first love is architecture and interior design. The thrill of taking initial ideas, carrying them through construction, and seeing the end results come to life never gets old. Nor does this tale from Donna’s childhood: When she was about 10 years old, Time magazine photographed her for being part of one of the youngest ballroom dancing couples in Denver. Alas, she never saw the photos—but she had a ball!

Tikka Svendsen

Tikka’s career began in wedding design and coordination, and since then, she’s built a professional path through various jobs that all have the same theme: “They’ve made me a passionate organizer of people and things,” she says. This experience, coupled with a lifelong love of luxury home design, makes Tikka an ideal administrative support to Duet’s detailed operations and vibrant team. (Fun tip: When you pop by our office, ask Tikka about growing up without electricity!)

Lezlie Goldberg

Mom to Duet principal Devon Tobin and equipped with decades of experience in the nonprofit world, Lezlie has led the Duet Design Foundation since its inception in 2014. Volunteerism has been part of Lezlie’s DNA since her days as a hospital candy striper, and she’s served in schools, religious organizations, and the community, including significant fundraising for the Jewish community as chair of large-scale events. She loves to meet the needs of people around her, especially individuals who are facing difficult seasons, and she’s energized by the Foundation’s mission to “help heal through thoughtful design.” Lezlie says she lives her best life now, with time for herself, her incredible family, her eight delightful grandchildren, golf, travel, and lots of laughter.

Can I pick which designers work on my project?

Our team, led by principal Devon Tobin, works collaboratively on projects because each designer brings distinctive expertise to our work. This approach allows us to give the full force of our talent to every client.

Who do I contact if I have a question about the status of my project?

You will have a lead designer for your project who responds promptly to all of your questions.

How will you know my style? I don’t know how to describe it.

Our tailored, one-of-a-kind process will lead you through a thorough and multi-step exercise designed to identify the elements of interior design that you find most beautiful and compelling. We know how to help each client find the look that best suits their preferences and lifestyle, and we look forward to helping you find yours!

We were on vacation when Duet Design completed the installation [of all design elements to our 1935 Tudor], and we returned to a stunning, beautiful, warm home. We are delighted with the final result, and highly recommend Duet Design for anyone looking to transform a house into a home!

Working with Duet Design Group was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. After I selected images of what I like and then looked through fabric samples, they were able to nail it regarding my style and colors. Jump forward several months, and I was presented with a home that far exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Duet Design Group to anyone who wants their vision realized!

Duet exceeded our expectations (which were already fairly high), on time and on budget. Devon knows what she is doing, as does her entire staff. We were amazed by how well they figured out what we would like and how they pulled together comprehensive designs that we fell in love with when we saw them executed (and we’re pretty picky.)

We wouldn’t have opted to do a custom build if it weren’t for Devon. There are simply too many decisions—too many places where things can go wrong—to do a custom-build without a confident vision. Enter Duet: They did a wonderful job of combining [my wife’s and my distinct] styles into a design that we both love for the entire home.

We understood from the beginning exactly what the costs were [for our first-floor renovation] and what the ultimate budget would be. And then Duet took it from there. We were completely insulated from the logistics, problem solving, and hard work that inevitably went into achieving the amazing end result. I had always been intimidated by interior design, but Duet made me feel so at ease. We give Duet our highest possible recommendation.

This firm takes the painstaking time to meet with you numerous times, has you touch fabrics, react to colors—all sorts of hands-on activities. Then they go to their “lab” and create your design. Their team is incredible with communication, ordering, and customer service. Every single detail [of our home] was implemented without any sort of delay, issue, or concern.
