Lighting is the control layer. It tells the room how to feel, what to highlight, and where to look. It’s the final say—the thing that makes everything else feel finished.
These six fixtures, all pulled from recent Duet Design projects, aren’t just pretty. They’re well-placed, well-scaled, and doing a lot more than they let on. No trend-chasing. No fluff. Just smart design doing what it does best.
1. THE “ARCHITECTURAL JEWELRY” DISC SCONCES
PROJECT: TIMELESS GRANDEUR
This is what happens when a sconce becomes sculpture. We installed these matte black discs against a soft, tonal stone wall and let the light glow from behind—not forward. They do their job without asking for attention.
WHERE IT WORKS: Hallways, nooks, inset walls—anywhere you want depth and quiet definition.
2. THE “CHANDELIER WITH RESTRAINT”
PROJECT: TIMELESS GRANDEUR
This fixture does exactly what it needs to: it anchors the dining room without taking over. Linear arms, soft globes, and just enough brass to keep things interesting. It’s there, but it’s not loud about it.
WHERE IT WORKS: Dining rooms or open-concept spaces that need scale without the visual clutter.

3. THE “NOT-SO-BASIC KITCHEN PENDANT”
PROJECT: SPICY MARG
This piece curves through the kitchen like a mobile—unexpected, lightweight, and exactly what we needed over that island. It plays off the veining in the stone without copying it, which keeps everything in motion without looking busy.
WHERE IT WORKS: Kitchens that already have strong material stories. You don’t want to compete—you want to float.
4. THE “JEWELRY DRAPED FROM THE CEILING”
PROJECT: OLD FASHIONED
This one is a total curveball. The chain fixture drops in like a necklace across the ceiling—and yes, we planned for it from the start. It softens the architecture and pulls your eye exactly where we want it.
WHERE IT WORKS: Primary bathrooms or dressing rooms that need a softer counterpoint to hard materials.

5. THE “ORB WITH A POINT OF VIEW”
PROJECT: TIMELESS TUDOR
We needed something open, graphic, and grounded. This orb nailed it. It holds its own above heavy furnishings and traditional woodwork, but still feels airy in the room. The geometry does the heavy lifting.
WHERE IT WORKS: Vaulted ceilings, second-floor overlooks, or any space that needs height with intention.
6. THE “PICTURE LIGHT THAT DOESN’T ASK PERMISSION”
PROJECT: TIMELESS TUDOR
Linen shades. Studded leather. Brass arms. This isn’t just a picture light—it’s a tailored detail that pulls the entire built-in together. It doesn’t scream, but you notice it.
WHERE IT WORKS: Custom millwork, bookcases, hallway vignettes—anywhere a small glow brings focus.

THE BOTTOM LINE:
We don’t pick lighting to fill a spec. It’s a design tool. These fixtures earn their place—through scale, tone, finish, and restraint. We’ve used them once, and we’d use them again. And again.
Lighting is never just a detail. If you’re planning a home—or rethinking one you already love—we’ll help you light it with purpose.
