From Kickoff to Completion: Meet Sydney McManness, Assistant Project Manager at Duet Design

Sydney is the driving force behind our project timelines, site coordination, and client communication. With a sharp eye for detail and a love for the moment when design becomes reality, she keeps every phase—from concept to install—organized, on track, and tailored to our clients’ lives.

There’s a moment in every project—when the studs are up, finishes are going in, and that design vision starts to feel real. For Sydney McManness, that moment is everything. As Duet’s Assistant Project Manager, she’s the glue behind the scenes who helps move mountains (and materials) to get us there.

“I bring structure and momentum to the creative process,” Sydney says. “My job is to make sure our designers can stay in flow, focused on what they do best—creating spaces that are both elevated and deeply personal.”

On keeping projects moving…and meaningful.

Sydney supports all phases of a project, from kickoff to install, managing timelines, budgets, client communications, and a thousand invisible details in between. Whether she’s tracking a missing light fixture or helping finesse a tricky install, she’s constantly translating complexity into clarity—for our clients, and for our team.

On the joy of build-out days:

“My favorite moment? When construction and interiors meet. There’s something so satisfying about watching the design translate into structure and finish
—it’s when everything clicks.”

On the project that pushed her:

Asked to pick a favorite, Sydney admits she had to play “eeny meeny miny mo” because every project has shaped her. But Vail Valley Family Lodge stands out.
“It pushed me to grow quickly and sharpen my problem-solving instincts. It was fast-paced, multifaceted, and stretched me in the best way.”

What’s always in her toolkit:

A photo of her family (yes, Newman included). “They’re my grounding force. They remind me why I show up with purpose—and with a full tank of energy!”

You’d never guess this about her:

She’s not just a sports fan—she’s married to one. “Our family life revolves around sports. We’re constantly outside playing, practicing, traveling to each other’s games, or catching a game when we’re traveling.”

Currently loving:

The Good Hang podcast with Amy Poehler. “It’s hilarious and heartwarming—celebrity guests, behind-the-scenes banter, no agenda, just pure fun. It’s my favorite listen on my commute and while cooking dinner.”

On working at Duet:

“There’s nothing like surrounding yourself with driven, talented, wildly smart women. It’s energizing, inspiring, and it keeps you sharp—in the best way.”

Advice she gives clients:

“Be honest about how you actually live in your space. Great design isn’t a Pinterest board—it’s personal. Let your vision evolve and trust the process.
